After spending five weeks in St. Petersburg, Russia from mid-September to mid-October, I have a hard time imagining a more beautiful place in the autumn.  Even on the cloudy days, I was a bit enchanted. So I thought I’d share a few of my favorite pictures:

Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood.

Tower of the St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral.

St. Isaac's Cathedral.

A bride on the grounds of the Smolny Convent.

View of St. Petersburg from the belfry at Smolny Cathedral.

A stray cat in Alexander Nevsky Cemetery.

Moyka River and the Mikhailovsky Gardens in early October.

View of St. Isaac's Cathedral from the Peter & Paul Fortress.

Looking ahead to Catherine Palace from Catherine Park at Tsarskoe Selo.

The Upper Garden at Petrodvorets (Peterhof).

Grand Palace at Petrodvorets.

An up close view of the Grand Cascade at Petrodvorets.

The Hermitage at night.

Bridge raised over the Neva River around 1:30 a.m.
